The challenge
Laurie Bates discovered water leaks in his 1998-built home— this led to rotting bottom plates, internal strapping, and Gib®. If left unresolved, the damage would continue to spread, compromising the structure and liveability of the house.
Why the problem existed
The original build lacked essential features, including a nib by the garage door, allowing water to pool and seep inside. Over time, this caused rot in the walls and flooring, hidden until symptoms appeared—cracks, soft floors, and deteriorated interiors.
The search for a solution
Laurie sought quotes from the market and based on a referral from his neighbours, chose Platinum Pacific Group as his builders, even though, in his words, PPG were not the cheapest. What started out as a cosmetic change turned out to be a substantial rebuild and Laurie’s criteria for his builder of choice included proven experience, a clear plan, and someone who could take charge of the project.
